Cuts you can't hear

At every cut, the outgoing clip's audio keeps playing underneath the next clip for a moment while it fades out. The picture still cuts cleanly. Only the sound overlaps.

Editors call this a split edit, or a J-cut. It is the main reason a professional edit sounds like a recording instead of a row of clips stitched together.
