Shorts are not long-form, cut down
A long-form video has room to warm up. A Short does not. Viewers swipe past quickly, so a Short needs one idea, stated early, delivered without detours.
That changes how you edit. In long-form, a thinking pause can feel natural. In a Short, the same pause is where people leave.
- One idea per Short. If you made two points, you have two Shorts.
- Lead with the payoff, then explain.
- End when the point lands. Cut the "so yeah, that's it" outro.
Clean delivery helps retention
Every stall in a talking-head Short is a chance to lose someone. PopScript detects long pauses and dead air and removes them for you, and crosses out filler words like um and uh.
Restarts are flagged as repetitions. If you said a line three times until it came out right, PopScript crosses out the repeated attempts it detects, and you check the result in the transcript. Anything else you want gone, like a wrong fact, you delete by tapping the words.
Captions for Shorts
Captions help people follow along when the audio is low or off, and they keep eyes on the screen. PopScript builds captions from your cleaned transcript, with style presets, fonts, colors, position and words per line.
Watch for low-confidence words in the transcript. Technical terms and names are the usual suspects. "Fix word" corrects them so your captions are right.
Turn one take into several Shorts
